Giraffe Batik Wall Hanging

This is a unique piece made my Mozambican Artists by a process known as Batiking. Batiking is a method of dyeing textiles. Wax is applied to sections of material which are to remain uncolored; the dyes do not penetrate wax. Once dyed, the wax can be removed by various methods, one of which is boiling. Repeated waxing and dyeing results in colorful patterns. The lines typically found in batiks are produced by cracking the hardened wax before applying the dye. As this is an art piece it should not be washed at all. If necessary wiped down gently with a damp cloth.
