Our History

In 2007 I wanted to set up a charity that raised money and collected food and clothing and then send these parcels back to both South Africans and Zimbabweans in need.  The question was raising money to be able to do so.  I did a lot of research but unfortunately, opening a charity or non-profit is extremely difficult so instead I decided to create Zambezi Designz, my own un-official non-profit that focuses on fair trade, bringing South African and Zimbabwean goods to the world where artists are paid their dues and then all proceeds from sales go back into various intiatives in local communities in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

I travel back home to both South Africa and Zimbabwe (with the occasional side trip to Mozambique) to both meet the vendors and then bring back the unique pieces you see on Zambezi Designz.  My family lives in South Africa so they also ship pieces over as and when required.

Me on the beach in Mozambique where I first met Joe Mumera and Saul Takaendesa.

I am so glad you visited Zambezi Designz and hope you will keep coming back to see all the stunning things we have for your home.
